Some members have asked the committee to change winter fishing times for  Saturday afternoon matches from 2.00pm – 6.00pm back to 3.00pm – 7.00pm. Any members who are in favour of or who have objections to this possible change please make your views known to the committee.

Welcome to the 2016 spring/summer newsletter.

The society held its Annual Winter Fishing presentation in March at the Buccaneer and was once again well attended, with prizes on the evening presented by Dave Brannon from one of our main festival supporters The Filey Sports club on Clarence drive..  ”A” League winner was Jason Riley, “B” league winner was Ian Sellers. A Big Congratulations to Jamie Richardson with a wonderful specimen cod of 14lbs 9.3ozs. the full results can be found on our popular FBAS website/results page and Facebook page.

For those of you wanting to get fishing again, the Summer Matches will start on 25th May. Please remember that there is a limit of 10 Mackerel in the summer matches. Also please remember that there is no fishing   from Bempton Bird Sanctuary cliff tops North Side of Dyke End , this entire area is now out of bounds day and night from 1st March until 1st October. The code of conduct agreed with the RSPB Bempton is available to view on the FBAS website and we encourage all our club members to make  themselves familiar with this. Please note there is new EC regulation which means no bass may be weighed in until 1st July. From July onwards one bass only may be brought to the scales for weighing. This will apply to all Festival matches and winter fishing.

summer matches for 2016 will be on the following dates:

Wednesday 25th May

Sunday 5th June( Fords open match 10am – 3pm, weigh in by 4.00pm – heaviest fish will count to your summer aggregate)

Friday 10th June

Wednesday 29th June

Friday 15th July

Sunday 24th July (start 12.00am weigh by 500pm)

Friday 29th July

Please note all evening matches start 6.30pm weigh in by 10.30pm prompt, all weigh ins are at the Fords Hotel Queen street Filey. Entry fees for club matches are adults £3.00 Juveniles £1.00. To enter book in with Frank and Lillian Colling, 41 Grange avenue, Filey 01723 515430 after 5.30pm for Wednesday & Friday matches. PLEASE NOTE THAT AS A SPECIAL OFFER WE ARE OFFERING ALL 7 MATCHES FOR THE PRICE OF 5 SO ENTRY FOR ALL 7 MATCHES WILL BE £15.00 INSTEAD OF £21.0 TO BE PAID IN ADVANCE.   NB no refunds will be given if you opt not to fish a match.

2016 Filey Fishing Festival Sat 3rd Sept. – Sun 11th Sept.2016

2016 AGM  and winter fishing meeting 30th Sept. Please note that if you have any ideas or topics you want to raise at this meeting please put  in writing and pass to the Secretary at least 2 weeks before the meeting. The committee are always looking for keen members to come forward with ideas, new committee members are also always welcome.

2016/17 Winter Fishing starts Monday 3rd October2016

December Christmas Social match (Date to be agreed)

Just a reminder that memberships end at the end of September regardless of when you joined, so make sure you renew before the winter Series starts in October.

Work is now underway to organise the festival, so if you would like to donate a prize or sponsor a match,or if you would like place an advert in the brochure please contact the secretary (Scott Blowman) or Andy Colling as soon as possible. All new members are asked to please support the festival by way of a prize or sponsorship of a match.

If you would prefer to receive further letters and communications from the Society by email, please let our secretary Scott know (his email is at the top of this newsletter). This would be really helpful as we can cut down on printing and postage costs. Also please take a look at our website (www.fileybrigganglingsociety.co.uk) which is regularly updated with match results and club news. So Scott can update our records and be able to send group text messages and group emails can we ask that if possible would you email you current details to Scott so he can update our records.

As always a massive thank you to all the committee, members and patrons who together make such a successful society. We also want to make you aware that our long serving treasurer is stepping down and if you would like to be considered for the role please contact any committee member. Thanks for all your loyal and hard work James.

new bass landing regulation

Members please note new bass landing regulations mean bass may not be landed and may not be weighed in until 1st July 2016 this is effective from 1st January2016. From July to December 31st one bass per angler per day may be retained and weighed in. This rule will apply during the Festival for both boats and shore competitions.
